C’est le coureur Australien Simon Gerrans du team Orica Green-Edge qui s’impose sur la 100ème Liège Bastogne Liège. Au terme des 262,9 km,il s’impose au sprint devant Alejandro Valver et Michal Kwiatkowski .
Tout s’est joué à 30 km du finish, on trouve 30 coureurs en tête au pied de la Côte Saint Nicolas. Ce sont d’abord Caruso et Pozzovivo qui attaquent avant le somment de la côte. Ils creusent l’écart . Derrière les teams Orica et BMC roulent à fond pour revenir sur le duo. C’est chose faite dans l’ultime km, et c’est alors que Dan Martin contre, mais malheureusement il chute dans le dernier virage, et au final Somon Gerrans qui l’emporte au final devant Valverde et Kwiatkowski
